Well, Hello There Darlings

Its been a while. Mostly because I’ve been overhauling the site with a little help from my friend Brandon of BDG WebDesign. It shouldn’t look much different to anyone, but everything behind the scenes is new and improved and it took some time to get it done. Thanks to Brandon for doing the stuff I don’t get and for years of tolerating my questions. OK, he “pets” my hair when I’m really not getting things, so it’s an even deal. I downloaded pictures from my phone to give a sneak peek at what’s been going on since we last chatted……Read More »Well, Hello There Darlings

The Purge One Year Later

It’s┬áthe one year anniversary of The Purge. Time goes quickly and this year has been no exception. My take away’s after a year? Life is much, much less stressful. I miss almost nothing that’s gone (that one damned desk!). We can focus on what’s more important than constantly cleaning and “organizing” clutter. What remains is what we love – except the couch that needs to be replaced eventually. Read More »The Purge One Year Later

Winter Running

It’s cold. Sure, not as cold as Alaska when I lived there, but still cold. It snows too. Not always as much as this year and not as much as other places, but we get it. This year quite a bit of it, relatively speaking. Ice. It’s everywhere. I’ve only gone running in temps as low as 13* this year. I’ve also bypassed running when the roads have been excessively crappy which seems like a lot. I used to run no matter what, but then I broke my foot. That taught me to be more of a fair weather runner – or at least less stupid about running. Winter running isn’t just about the clothing you wear – although that makes it manageable – it’s about being safe and following rules differently.Read More »Winter Running

For Those Of You Who Assume I Have My S**t Together, Think Again

Recently on a run, a friend asked me for parenting advice. The timing was interesting since – on this particular run – I was internally decompressing about my own parenting. Having 9 teenagers in the home makes life fun and interesting, it keeps me young and ages me. People comment often: “I don’t know how you do it and stay sane!”, “You have such a big heart!”, “You have it so together!”. Bull. Who says I’m sane, have a big heart or have anything together? People assume an awful lot. Kids don’t come with a manual,Read More »For Those Of You Who Assume I Have My S**t Together, Think Again

Capsule Wardrobe My Way

It’s been almost one year since minimizing and I have yet to embrace a traditional minimalist capsule wardrobe. The packing everything up except a certain number of items hasn’t worked for me and I’m OK with that. I like having all my clothes out and available and it’s actually kept me more accountable and helped me streamline. Could I live with less? Of course. If I got rid of half of what I have would life be honky dory? Yup. But I found a comfort zone and that’s where I’ll stay for now. My closet is still shrinking slowly, but it’s not the shrinking that’s interesting to me this past year, it’s the morphing.Read More »Capsule Wardrobe My Way

Someday I Will……

That elusive someday. Always putting off the things we “want” to do for the things we “have” to do. I recently watched the movie Paper Towns with several of the teenagers and it was a great conversation starter.Read More »Someday I Will……
