WHAT’S IT REALLY LIKE TO LIVE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY? TO HAVE OTHERS PUT LIMITATIONS ON YOU, THE STRUGGLES THAT COME WITH A “DISABILITY”
Win and I chatted about working in pre-school, with special needs kids, what it feels like to be stared at and talked about (as if she’s not standing right there), the issues with using a walker or a wheelchair in public, writing books, getting degrees, losing her mom and dating. She’s a kick in the pants and will leave you proud of her and wondering why you aren’t doing more with your life.
If there’s ever been a time in your life you’ve felt you couldn’t get things done, Win will teach you that anything is possible. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth, and a devastating surgery that left her using a walker, the loss of her mother, Win STILL got her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, works full time, has run a successful podcast for over 4 years AND is a published author with 7 books (and an 8th released in August) under her belt. To add on to that, she’s starting her Associates to Bachelor degree fall 2017 for a degree in Fashion Journalism!
To supplement her college textbook cost, she’s starting a campaign “Books For Books” where every purchase of one of her books, the profit goes directly into a savings account used only for college textbooks. If you haven’t read her work, you should.
You can find Win on Facebook, mostly on Twitter: @winkellycharles or her podcast Butterflies of Wisdom on iTunes and her website!
It’s a privilege being friends with this amazing woman!
